Bishop Bill's Bulletin
Dear Members of the Diocesan Family
The Registry Office will close today at 11.30a.m., and I will notify the Diocesan family as to when we
will reopen. I do not expect we will be open before Wednesday. Safety must be our first priority. As
we know cyclones can be unpredictable. However, with the current predictions it is important that
we continue to pray for the good folk of the Burdekin, Whitsunday and Townsville Regions.
I thank the clergy and parishioners who have cleaned up around their Churches and other buildings
to make them as safe as possible.
In the meantime, I ask that we continue to pray for all who are providing information to the public,
the meteorology department forecasters, the media who are updating us and for our Councils
as they oversee the evacuations and Disaster Management plans; the Police, the SES, the
Ergon and Energex staff along with the Council employees and others who will be cleaning up
following Cyclone Debbie.
In the meantime, keep safe and be assured of my prayers.
Yours in Christ
The Right Reverend William (Bill) Ray
Bishop of North Queensland
