Bishop Bill's Bulletin
Dear Members of the Diocesan Family
Clergy and Lay Conference:
Last year, it was a great joy that clergy and laity could come together in conference to address ministry within the Diocese. The conference for this year was to be held from 4th to the 7th of July. Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, the conference this year will not be proceeding. I will provide an update in the next Bulletin.
I will provide an update on Synod arrangements early next week.
Stained Glass Window - Cathedral - 9th July 2017:
The Sunday of Synod is also Sea Sunday. At the Eucharist on the Sunday morning I will be dedicating a new stained glass window in the Chapel. I have seen the drawings of the window and they are stunning. The Mission to Seafarers are donating the window in thanksgiving to God for ninety years of ministry at the Townsville Station.
I have been made aware that some people would like to make a thank offering as well. Please find information attached outlining how you can make a donation.
We give thanks to God for the ministry of the Mission to Seafarers here in Townsville. We pray for the Committee and for Dr de Jersey who is the Chair, Mr Graham Miller the Manager and the Dean who is the Chaplain. It is a wonderful ministry that is blessed by so many wonderful volunteers.
Commissioning of The Reverend Honorio Hincapie as Priest of Whitsunday Parish:
Honorio's commissioning will be held at St. Paul's Proserpine this Friday 9 June at 6.00pm. The liturgical colour is red. Refreshments will follow the service.
I invite you to attend as this Parish has done it hard as a result of Cyclone Debbie.
Also, on the following Saturday (17th June) Mothers' Union (MUA) are holding a thanksgiving and fellowship day in Bowen from 10.00am to 3.00pm to give thanks for the blessings received and pray for those who are in need. For more information contact: Deane Bray. Ph. 4942 1557 Email. firstname.lastname@example.org
The revised dates for the Northern Region Consultations:
St Mary’s Atherton Tablelands Wednesday 14 June at 6pm

Gambling Community Benefit Grants:
The Diocese has now been registered for on-line grant applications through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Should your parish wish to apply for a grant through this fund, please find the instructions attached.
I thank everyone who has attended the Regional Consultations over the past two weeks and for the comments you have provided.
Welcome Back and Thank You:
The Archdeacon is taking a well earned break. We welcome The Reverend Tim and Mrs Jo Morris back to the Diocese. We give thanks for the ministry of The Reverend Allan Shepard at the Cathedral over the last few weeks.
o Deacon Eric Pitt has undergone surgery today. Please pray for Deacon Eric, Jan and the family at this time.
o Fr Kenneth Lay who was assaulted earlier today.
o For the Diocesan Council meeting tomorrow evening.
o For those sitting exams at this time.
o We continue to pray for the Mabo family and people of the Torres Strait.
Please be assured of my prayers.
Yours in Christ
The Right Reverend William (Bill) Ray
